Vietnam may legalize casinos for its citizens

At the moment, there is a proliferation of huge casino projects in Vietnam – a fact that we mentioned in this article and this one.
The country’s government is considering relaxing the laws on gambling in order to boost tourism, create more jobs, and increase tax revenues.
According to current regulations, casinos are only allowed for foreign tourists and not for the country’s citizens.
Sources close to the government have stated that the country may soon legalize casinos for nationals in order to boost the sector and attract big international operators.
Such a reform would allow Vietnam to become an important region for the gambling sector and generate annual revenues of 3 billion for the industry.
According to estimates, the country is losing approximately 800 million dollars per year in tax revenue because of the Vietnamese who visit Cambodia for gambling.
