A casino in a national park in Vietnam

Many Asian countries seem to have the intention of replicating Macau’s success and have started building huge casinos on their territories.
This has been the case in the Philippines, in South Korea and now in Vietnam.
Indeed, by the end of 2020 a touristic complex featuring a casino should see the light of day in the north of the country.
The project, which has been approved by the local government of the area, will be carried out in a national park in the Ha Giang province, a protected area containing several sites recognised as part of the Vietnamese geological heritage.
Obviously, the decision to build this resort in a protected area of environmental value has been heavily criticised by the opposition and by numerous organisations.
By contrast, it has been welcomed by vice-Premier Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, who regards the project as a good chance to develop the region and fight poverty.
The national park in the Ha Giang province is considered one of the most beautiful places in the country.
It attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.
