Las-Vegas-Sands

In December 2011, the group Las Vegas Sands directed by businessman Sheldon Adelson had planned to construct an immense leisure complex, oriented toward the casino near Madrid in Spain.
With a budget of 16 billion euros, the center would have created more than 260,000 direct and indirect jobs in a country where the unemployment rate is at 21.5 percent.
In spite of some uncertainty and many detractors, the project was made official in October 2012.
The work was supposed to begin in December 2013.
Last Friday, however, Sheldon Adelson announced that his group was cancelling the project.
Instead, he prefers to look at opportunities in Asia.
In fact, Japan is currently creating a law that allows for the authorization of land-based casinos in the country, as we have shown in this news column.
Furthermore, the recent awarding of the Olympic Games in 2020 to Tokyo should facilitate the implementation of the law.
Consequently, many rumors suggest that the Las Vegas Sands group cancelled its project to focus on the construction of a casino in Japan.  Stay tuned.
