Since 2007, Macau has had to be regarded as the true world capital of gambling.
In fact, in the year 2007 the turnover of its casino industry overtook that of Las Vegas’, as we reported in this article.
As a result, many Asian countries have been trying to take advantage of the enthusiasm that currently surrounds this sector in the region.
This is why South Korea is going to build an enormous casino resort in the port city of Incheon, with a $290 billion budget.
Called 8City, the resort will be built on the island of Yongyu-Muui, close to Incheon International Airport.
The complex will include casinos, hotel, shopping malls, theme parks, racing circuits, ski runs and a marina.
The resort should occupy a site of 80 km² – an area three times larger than that of Macau – and its construction is expected to begin next year and be completed by 2030.
South Korea hopes that the new 8City resort will attract 134 million visitors a year and that 930,000 jobs will be created.
