In June 2012 Spain liberalised its online gambling market, as we had announced back then in this post.
Nearly a year after its liberalisation, the Spanish online gaming regulator DGOJ (Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego) has made its first assessment, which is encouraging and proves that players are quite receptive to the offers of the industry operators.
Indeed, more than one million people living in Spain have already signed up to an online gambling site.
What’s more, the market keep growing.
Between the third and the fourth quarter of 2012, for instance, revenues grew by 40%, and bets were up 24%.
Spanish gamblers seem to prefer sports-bets, as these represent 48.5% of all placed bets.
Poker follows suit, and right after come slot machine bets, which are still not legalised yet represent 12.4% of the bets total.
Last is bingo, which represents only 3.6% of all bets.
