Atlantic-City

Since 2008 and the start of the global economic crises, Atlantic City casinos have been facing big problems.
In this article dating back to 2011 we reported that the situation was not going to improve in the short term – we were right, as the casinos’ gross operating profits have continued to fall.
Last April, for example, the revenues of the 12 casinos in Atlantic City decreased by 11.9% when compared with the same period of the previous year.
In particular, revenues from table games fell by 6% and those from slot machines were down 14.4%.
In the first four months of the year, the total revenue of the casinos in the city fell by 12.1% when compared to 2012.
Only two casinos, namely the Atlantic Club and the Caesars Atlantic City, have recorded an increase of 36.6% and 5.9% respectively.
